The Office Stylist: Pentel EnerGel Pearl Pen Review

“No matter where technology takes us, I still need to write stuff down. Call me old fashioned but there is a big difference between a to-do list on my iPhone and one where I can physically cross off tasks. I bought a package of two Energel Pearl black medium point pens about a week ago and just loved writing with the first one out of the package. The needle tip ballpoint was so smooth and the grip was comfortable and I even liked the look of the design. The problem came a few days later when I pressed the plunger to extend the tip and the grip end of the pen, the cartridge and the spring shot across the room! I was very surprised! As I examined the plastic barrel still in my hand I noticed some hairline cracks in the plastic end that screws onto the threaded metal section of the lower portion of the barrel. I had not dropped, twisted, or otherwise abused this pen. It is unfortunate there is not a metal ferrule, or some other stronger reinforcement used on the upper part of the pen. I have been a long-time user of Pentel pens and mechanical pencils and this is the first time I have been disappointed in one of your products.
