A Little Craft for Thanksgiving

Every parent thinks their child is an amazing artists and cherishes every little piece of artwork. Even if it is just a scribble in a notebook, it is special because their child created it. What if I told you that your child could decorate your home? Some might think I am crazy, but with just a little assistance your child can make one of a kind Fall with their very own hands and it’s better than anything Home Goods has to offer.

Materials:

Step_1

Step 1:
Paint a tree trunk onto the canvas with brown watercolor and a wet paint brush. Depending on the ages of your children, you can do this step prior to getting them involved or let them do this step as well.
Step_2
Step 2: Pick some Fall colors out of your set such as reds, yellows, oranges, and browns. Squirt a small amount of each color onto the paper plates. With a wet paint brush apply the watercolor to your child’s hand. Feel free to get creative and mix colors together, because these watercolors blend so well!
Step_3
Step 3: Once the paint is on your child’s hand, you will want to work rather quickly so it doesn’t dry. Have them press down their hand where the leaves of the tree would go.
Step_4
Step 4: Repeat this process until you have a beautiful arrangement of fall handprint leaves on your tree.

To create the Handprint Turkey variation canvas, have your child stamp their hands in a semi-circle. After the handprints have dried, either you or them can go in with a paint brush and add the body.
